Letters [manuscript]. 1981-1984.

Forty-three letters from Alan Marshall to Thelma Henry, six handwritten autographs on fly-leaves torn out of books he had inscribed to her, three greeting cards, and a letter from Henry to Marshall, dated 7 January 1984 and annotated "My last letter to Alan". Marshall's letters date from 30 July 1981 to 21 December 1983, covering the period right up to a month before Marshall died. The first letter gives a very useful summary of the events in Marshall's life, his family and his physical condition. Another good letter contains an account of the trial of Robert Close, author of Love me sailor. Marshall was involved because Close dedicated the book to him.
